ASV ADVENDO Pencak Silat Pukulan Betawi Den Haag

Edit

The style of Pencak Silat practiced within ASV ADVENDO as a self-defense art is the Pukulan Betawi. Its basic technique comes from the Sundal lands of West Java, expanded with some good techniques from various Japanese and Chinese martial arts. The Pencak Silat Pukulan Betawi originated in the former Batavia or Betawi, called Jakarta since Indonesian independence. As far as is known, Pukulan Betawi was composed and perfected by Dutch residents living in the Kwitang neighborhood of the former Batavia and born there. These former East Indians often spoke the various regional languages and were so familiar with Indonesian mores and customs that it was not difficult for them to adapt and give direction to Pukulan Betawi. Thus, before W.O.2, the Pencak Silat Pukulan Betawi emerged among practitioners of defensive arts in the Indonesian Archipelago.
